Season Update

This is where you can learn about how the mango season is progressing in terms of: when we will have fruit and which variety  we are currently picking. You can leave comments or ask questions. You can share your experiences that you have had with our fruit or an interesting story about my Dad who started and ran  the Mango Factory for 40 years. We value your comments and look forward to hearing from you.

The 2010 mango season will open three weeks later this season due to weather conditions. We survived the January cold spell as the bloom didn’t begin until early February (two months latter than the early December bloom in 2009). A tremendous 2nd bloom. began in mid February and then we had three weekend rains three weeks in a row that washed the blooms of pollen and cut the bloom in half. Our Valencia Pride and especilly Kents look promishing but the Keitts may be not a plentifuly as last year. We still should have plenty of mangoes but time will tell if we have as many as last year. We still have to worry about potential high winds, but so are the trials of raising tropical fruits…Doug

Our first fruit to mature in June & July are Haydens, Erwins, Cambodiana and Apple.  They will be followed in July & August by Valencia Pride and Kents.  Lastly in August & September our wonderfully large and sweet tasting Keitts will close out the season.

Feel free to contact us with your inquiries or make a post.

Thanks, Doug Flowerree
